"Aye Gurl 1-2-2-4" has become synonymous for Danae Hicks.Known simply as Ms.1224. Born February 12,1988 to Charles Hicks and coveted motorcycle builder Stacey"Getgone" Hicks,it wasn't until the age of 11 she found her niche in music. The controversial software Fruity Loops Studio was the tool of choice.Over the years she produced for local artist and groups up until 2004.After a two year hiatus and being introduced to "Reason", a new music production software, the then 18 year old Danae began producing again. After linking up with fellow producers and friends, Clinton"HB"Hester,Matt G,and Chris"CNote" Gutierrez, they formed the Trak Hammer Production Team, but after only a short time together the team parted ways to work on solo ventures. It wasn't until hearing friend Scotty Johnson rap did she consider starting her own label and production company,1224 Entertainment Group LLC.She began emailing tracks to Johnson and his friends to record to.They began posting tracks on Myspace and surprisingly gained many fans.Even with the new found following she still had to figure out a way to connect with more artist.Enlisting the help of east side club promoter Marvin Lewis and his cousin Moola. They began networking, going to clubs and studios meeting with artist. She also began working with producer Melvin Daly and producer and artist Trapboy Black which spawned the underground hit "I DO This".She was also enlisted by friend and artist Rasean "Cutdawg" Barber to work on his project. After building a list of artist and managers she started emailing tracks out to artist which proved to be a wise move.In late 2009 she received an email from an artist by the name of Deuce and his manager Mike from House Arrest Records owned by Johnathan Day."I didn't believe it at first i was about to delete the email and go back to watching Family Guy",says Hicks of the email she received asking her to contact DJ Ice Mike in reference to major artist recording to her production. In yet another smart move she called the number and went up to House Arrest to hear first hand,a beat called "StoryTeller" which she had sent out via email made its way to Gorilla Zoe.She began working with House Arrest, becoming one of the main producers. She has worked with artist such as Humble G,Kollosus,Supplya,Cheeto Gambine and Omega. She continues to produce for artist all over the country although mainly focusing on her company. She is currently working on projects for Omega,Snata,Jake D,MSM,and Black Gov along with producers Anthony"Cash" Jones,Sonny Digital,Ba Beats, and producer and Engineer Ladi Jade."I'm still working on where I want to be,but I'm enjoying not having to look for artist anymore or wait in line at clubs and you most certainly will be hearing that 1-2-2-4".
